Yurt Holidays in Winter

Posted by admin on Oct 26, 2010

As we head into the colder months, I hear some of you asking…

“Are yurt holidays really possible in the winter?”

Indeed they are!

Yurts are all year round forms of accommodation, livable right through out the year and in fact many yurt lovers do live in their yurts all year round.

Yurts actually hail from Mongolia and were designed to be able to handle the colder months.

For the colder climes yurts usually have insulation in the form of felting to keep the yurt insulated from the cold.

And not only that, in colder regions yurts also often have a form of heating.  This can range from a fire camp in the ground to an installed wooden stove.

Now, I don’t know about you, but I just love going to sleep with the fire roaring.  Hearing and watching the flames of the fire as I drift off to sleep…

Magical!

Typically wood fires are the favoured form of heating for yurts.   And if it is a wood fire stove, these can be used for cooking as well.

So it certainly is possible to go for winter yurt holidays.

Of course you want to check your yurt holidays location to see what form of insulation they use and what heating is inside your yurt.

In fact yurts are so practical for the colder climes you can even find yurts up high in the mountains amongst the snow in winter and ski locations.

Yurt holidays, snow and skiing are fast becoming a popular combination

So if you fancy something a little different for your winter holiday why not check out yurt holidays and maybe even combine it with the snow and skiing for a different kind of holiday getaway.
